Thoroughly dispiriting reading from this week's Drogheda Life front page article -
"So here we are in Drogheda, three months into the year 2019; petrol bombs, drive by shootings, kidnapping are everyday events and homeless drug addicts and winos sleeping in derelict buildings has become the norm. How did we get to this? Both the social and physical fabric of this heritage town have been very badly abused. The drug dealers are prepared to kill in their feud over the sale of their deadly products while the property speculators are prepared to see our heritage buildings destroyed, also for the filthy lucre. Friday’s fire at Donaghy’s Mill is the latest in a long and sorry series of events, all of them related to lack of leadership and concern, that have literally blighted the town to such an extent as to leave Drogheda unrecognisable from its glory days which weren't all that long ago."
