The Royal Canal Park Community Association ("RCPCA") has been involved in the process surrounding the proposed Ratoath Road Realignment and Overbridge including the closure of Level Crossing XG002 (at Reilly's Bridge, Ratoath Road, over the Royal Canal).

Dublin City Council ("DCC") and Irish Rail recently published the Environmental Impact Study ("EIS") for the proposal. Full details are available at-
http://www.irishrail.ie/projects/rat...ealignment.asp

According to the Irish Rail website-
"The EIS is being lodged with An Bord Pleanála in December 2010 and will be available for viewing in Cabra Library and Dublin City Council Civic Offices. Subject to approval by An Bord Pleanála, construction of the scheme is expected to commence in the second half of 2011 and be of 12 months duration."

What happens next?
According to the Non-Technical Summary of the EIS (Part 14 on page (ix))-
"Written submissions relating to the likely environmental effects of the proposed development may be made to An Bord Pleanála (the Board) by the public or by prescribed bodies prior to the date specified in published newspaper notices. An Oral Hearing may be held should the statutory requirements for one be met. Written submissions, together with any representations made at any oral hearing, will be considered by the Board in making its decision on whether or not to approve the scheme with or without modifications. The Board’s decision will be published in one or more newspapers circulating in the area, including where appropriate, particulars
of any modifications to the scheme.

All submissions in relation to this development should be sent to the Board at the following address-
An Bord Pleanála
64 Marlborough Street
Dublin 1
"

Based on the above, and the notice in the Irish Times of Tuesday 21 December 2010, the deadline for written submissions to An Bord Pleanála is six weeks from the date of the newspaper notice, therefore the deadline appears to be Tuesday 1 February 2011.

RCPCA will be involved in the EIS process and keep you advised of matters.
