Default Parking

Am i the only resident who is severely pissed off about the new parking arrangements, i resent having to pay to park here at night and at weekends when i paid almost 300k for an apt and 1750 a year in management fees.

Think its time to cut my losses and move on

I cannot believe what they have done. €11 to park a car in there for 24hrs is insane, especially at the weekends - like I can see people on the overnight rate being clamped at ten past nine on a Sunday morning. When this was mooted first, the residents committee asked to be consulted on proposals - the response was there were no proposals. And now this is done. I suppose at this stage I shouldn't be surprised...

I'm actually sick to my stomach. My tenant, who I live with, told me about the signs last night. Even though I'm not surprised, I really don't know what we're going to do about it. My tenant works in the biz park so has a sticker on her car to park there during the day but theres no hope in hell that either of us can afford to pay €4, 7 days a week for her to park her car there at night. I'm so worried that she's going to move on. And in that case, theres not a hope I can pay my mortgage to stay here, yet alone the management fee next year.
I really don't know what is good about living here any more.

When I moved in I was told that the entire car park was available to me for overflow parking, then I was shunted to the car park on the right having suffered a 'don't park here sign slapped on my window'- at least it was free..and now I'm being told I have to pay for something I previously had a right to. Its a disgrace... I have previously said nothing about the fact that my management fees have doubled since I moved in just over three years ago but this feels like the last straw to me. Are they going to put a toll on the entrance to park west? I think a residents sticker would put an end to 'unauthorised hazardous parking' if that is their real concern.

Default Parking

The NCPS area marked out in the circular is not the area where residents currently park at night - has there been further communication/do not park here stickers for this area?
Dublin City Council offers a residents' permit for people living in their pay parking areas - I think it's about €40/year. Could a similar option be explored with the management company here?

Disgraceful to expect people to pay to park. My tenant is now moving out due to parking and dont reckon will be able to get anyone else in if going to have to pay. Can anyone clarify where people have to pay to park? I understood from letter just the overflow carpark and visitor spots still ok?
Dont see why we cant instigate what is done in most apt complexes in Dublin and register car to be in visitor carpark space by text message and have limit of 3 or 4 days out of 7. Then people with 2 cars who cant park both underground can alternate. I d be willing to do this and this would stop people not living here using it to abondon vehicles.

Has anyone been on to Harcourt? Not that they'd be of anything other than their usual obnoxious selves...it's like they are testing to see exactly how far they can push people before they crack...

Has their been any kind of a meeting arranged to discuss what to do about this? I quite literally can't to afford to roll over for them on this one...I doubt anyone else can either?

I'd have more respect for them if they just stole my handbag...who can afford to pay that kind of money for a piece of ground to park their car on in their own home? How insulting to all of us that are trying to hold it together and are already struggling to pay mortgages, bills, (exorbitant) management fees and now this ?????

I am absolutely fuming about this- if it was a premium city centre location one could understand, however I am really struggling with this. I lived in rathgar for a while and we paid 50 quid or something per year for the permits and I cannot understand how a system like this cannot be introduced, there are cheaper daily rates for parking in city centre.... it is crazy.

We will most likely have to sell up if it continues in this way, who is going to rent a 2 or 3 bed apartment with only 1 car.... and the other thing, you really need a car in Park West, its not exactly serviced with a high level of transport options.

Is this even legal.....?

That's statement is just not true at all.
For example:
  • Dublin Bus - 79A, 79, 151
  • Express Bus - Route 860
  • Irish Rail - Park West Station
  • Taxi - Rank within Park West
  • Luas with Park n Ride - Kylemore Stop

The same signage has gone up along the M50 side of the Academy, suggesting that these visitor spaces also require the 'text to park' system to be used.

I'm going to e-mail all our local councillors. Their contact details are on this page
http://www.dublincity.ie/YourCouncil...s/default.aspx

and we are in the Ballyfermot/ Drimnagh ward.

It is worth mentioning that there are about 450 apartments here and probably double that number living here - it's a lot of potential votes for a someone that can help us out...

We live in a non-residential area with a car park that is empty in the evenings and at weekends yet the landlord wants to charge us €4000 per annum to park in one of 20 (or maybe now 30 including the Academy side) spaces they have made available to 450 apartments, after being able to use the other spaces for the last 4 years. As already mentioned, other places have permit systems that identify apartments linked to cars if the car is causing a nuisance during the working day, but I suppose that scheme would not be a cash cow and not of appeal to grasping landlords.

The 10km run is on this Sunday and, ironically, "free parking" is one of the perks being advertised. Oh that we were so lucky.

Default Parking - We have to do something

Hi Guys,

This is an absolute joke! For permanent residents to park here for 1 month is going to cost around €168 per month. You could live in city centre cheaper than this..

Do we have a residents committee here, if so we need to hold a meeting asap.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Have Harcourt/Airscape confirmed that the pay parking applies to residents? Seems incredibly unfair that if someone is lucky enough to get a space at the steps or around the M50 side that they can leave their car there overnight but those of us that are unlucky enough to arrive home after they've all been snapped up have to pay. Seems there are quite a few people that manage to nab those spaces very regularly, it's ludicrous that some will be forced to pay and some won't.

I suspect that some of the cars parked in the visitor spots are either there for long term parking or simply abandoned. There is one car at back of the Academy (M50 facing) that has been there for a few months - this car belonged to tenants who are no longer renting a certain apartment, yet their car has been moved out to the visitor parking area. Either they have abandoned it or they are living somewhere nearby and using this spot for free long term parking.

Default Meeting?

Is there anyway we could have a quick meeting somewhere to discuss this?
Maybe some eve in Days Hotel (even just in the bar?)

This affects everyone...I already know of someone who's tenant is moving because of this?

I would be happy to stick a posters around the lifts in The Academy building to let others (who are not on this) know date / time?

If they get away with this God knows what new money making scheme they'll come up with next...

No formal meeting is being organised, but see the thread about the Know Your Neighbours event taking place on Saturday. If anyone has any suggestions about what we could do, there'll hopefully be lots of people there to discuss it with.

Default Parking

It seems that only some residents in the Crescent received information on the pay parking now in place. Could someone put up some info from the letter sent out by Airscape on it.

A general meeting for all apt blocks would be a great idea. Also can residents start taking reg no's of cars which are in underground carpark and around in visitor spaces that they think are abondoned and send on to Louise...the crescent committee have started doing this as we need to get rid of these abondoned cars to at least free up some spaces that could be used for real residents! thanks.
