Anyone notice any trouble with loss of Power this morning? Apparently ours just went out at about 8.45am this morning. (CG Crescent)

Power is off in the Lucan Area. Lights are out at the canal bridge and also at the main N4 junction (great fun this morning!!!). ESB say power should be restored in approx. two hours.

that was a rather eerie feeling last night.

i had my video ipod to keep me entertained though but wondering if it would be worth having a battery sourced light in a couple of places now.

it was a bit freaky... a whole grid in Lucan was out.
one side of the village and us...

Well we had to duck over to friends house in the Paddocks to cook our dinner :cheers3: somehow, they managed to avoid the power cut.

Ha, I ate Weetabix and cold milk for dinner...and it took me about half an hour of find my way around the kitchen cause I couldn't remember where the candles were. I then rang everyone in my phone book to keep myself entertained cause I was so bored. Some people I rang 3 times!!!!!

Life without electricity is not worth living. And after me complaining about noise levels, I couldn't sleep last night cause it was too quite

Hi,

we almost had dinner cooked, when it went off around 6pm last nite.

Lit a few candles, continued on.

After dinner, we got 151bus to LIDL Nangor road, did our weekly shopping, and were back in under an hour.

Our car was locked in the gated car park, and we couldnt get out the electronic gates.

As we hadnt missed a Prison Break episode in two years, we got another bus to relatives, watched Prison Break til 11.25, and got bus home for 12 midnight, and our power was restored.!!!!!

I thougt it was dead cosy. :smile5: We had loads of candles lit and were playing cards. The dinner situation was a bit of a problem..luckily there was some Ben&Jerrys icecream in the freezer...had to be eaten..just in case the powercut lasted all night and the icecream melted away..dreadful waste of nice icecream otherwise....

Hey Nush,
I too consoled with Ben and Jerrys. It'd be a crying shame to see it melt away (half price in tesco and superquinn at the mo)

ESB say that food will stay frozen in the freezer for up to 24 hours during a power cut. So unless they're runny, i reckon they're game ball !!

great thread.
my car was also trapped by the electric gates (lame!)
so we lit candles, hooked up the ipod to some speakers (listened to arcade fire, powers out) and boiled water on the gas cooker for cups of tea and ate candy, etc.
it was a humbling experience, reminder of how important electricity is.
wouldn't want to have outages every night like some countries.
