Hey welcome to Adamstown!!

I must say your name is great - haven't seen the film yet but that part of the ad is very funny!

Definitely - can't wait for the cinema etc.

As far as good restaurants around here - there are a few in the general vicinity...

Beckets in leixlip is excellent. I have been there a few time. Try and get in for an early bird. Very good value and really good food.

Wasn't very impressed by Finnstown - very expensive and service poor. Food average.

The Clarion Hotel just beside Liffey Valley has a nice thai restaurant thats quite good value and a nice place to just chill. There is also a Lemongrass there.

In terms of take aways we have been really impressed with an indian in rathcoole. I can't remember the name but the food was really tasty and they always throw in a few extras and arrive on time - I think the number is 01-4124788.

Found it - Taste of Corner (whatever that means!).

Thanks for the advice on the Chinese!!

The indian in Lucan Village beside the garage is really nice (name begins with K I think). They don't deliver tho (collection only).

Don't bother with La Banca in the village, we took family there and the service was awful. The food was very mixed as well. We never complain but did on this occassion. Never going back.

Kenny's in the village is not bad as well, especially if u like a decent sunday dinner.

If ur a guinness drinker (!), the Lord Lucan can be quite alright. They also do a nice lasagne (only thing I've eaten there!). Place isn't that "cosy" tho. Courtneys in the village is a lovely pub, but the guinness can be very mixed. Kenny's is nice and has a decent pint (more modern bar) and the small pub beside it (O'Neills?) does a very decent brew as well (has a more english pub feel to it) :cheers3:

By treble do you mean to finish in the bottom three? :lol3:

Sorry spiderpig!!! Shocking start to the season tho by Utd, but sure it's a long way till May :smile5: Certainly, if nothing else, it's been an interesting start to the prem this year.

YNWA.

P.S. Yup, love the username. Best part of the movie, was a disappointing flick imho. The good news was it's like the series, the bad news was it's like the series. Lacked a little to validate a big screen presence.

Ya interesting start to say the least. Pity chelsea did not mess it up but they will. Alot of bogey teams this season. Have liverpool got the staying power?
Still between utd and chelsea imho.

Chelski have scraped a few victories, and they managed to rob (styles) a point against us. And Fat Frank got them out of jail last week. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop a few points shortly.

Liverpool will most likely not win the title this year. As long as they remain contenders and make a decent challenge, I'm happy. It's been a great start (comparitive to past seasons), and we seem to be winning games we couldn't before (against smaller teams). It's a much improved side, with good confidence and a great camaraderie. Good times for a 'pool fan.

I tipped Chelski pre-season and it's even harder now not to back them (with Utd already dropping points). Utd played out of their skins last year (and brilliantly imo), but it's hard to get that the next season from all players. If Chelski remain injury free at the back, and keep with the more attacking style they've adopted this year, it'll be hard catch them.

But here's hoping they won't win it

Wow, this threads gone a bit off-topic!!!! Sorry!!!

weston airport between celbridge/lucan is really nice,..and an unusual venue for a change,..lebaneese and european cooking and very close to adamstown,..also if you want something very fancy thry "the village at lyons estate" in celbridge,...its run by that celeb chef richard corrigan,..its expensive but nice(www.thevillageatlyons.com) and if you go in the day there is a more reasonable cafe menu and the surroundings are gorgeous,..another lovely experience is the restaurant in castletown house (celbridge),..again the setting is magnificant,..big huge fire places etc,..its in the west wing of the building and also has a lovely outdoor courtyard area (www.castletown.ie),.. those places i have mentioned are in country settings but are still very convenient,..but all are within 5-12 mins drive from us in adamstown... the chinese in lucan beside the mc donnalds is great too,..i really like that one as do all my friends,..

This is actually a decent website with reviews, menus, hours, phones, of seemingly all the restaurants in Dublin:
http://www.menupages.ie/Restaurants/Lucan

Personally, coming from city center, I find the China House to be very good value for money. We have chicken curry, or sweet and sour chicken, for €6. (boiled rice free, fried rice is .30 cents!) For those prices I don't expect authentic Chinese dim sum. I trust the food there more than the some of the places in Dublin.

There is also Prego's Pizza who will do delivery. However, having their award winning pizza in their "restaurant" is worth doing as the pizza is hot and fresh.

We took away food from the Kasturi Indian, Lucan. It was ok, but not the best. I will have to eat in there one day to see if it is any better. It isn't Spice n' Rice. :-( (I will have to try Rathcoole's "Taste of Corner"! ;-)

Regarding La Banca, I thought it was nice. It is the same owner as Prego's, so might be worth trying the pizza even if it seems like a boring choice.
We thought it was good value for money.

We stopped by PollyHops while on the push bikes. What a Kip! We were almost afraid to order pints. Got the hell outta there. Looks friendly enough when driving by (but always empty).

Haven't eaten at the Lord Lucan yet, or even any of the other pubs in Lucan.
I was in the Finnstown House, and it looked like they were still reconstructing it.

Indeed. I'll bet John Terry feels like a bit of a t*t now, with his "hell of a lead" comments :ytongue: Key point tho is that we are only the "team of the moment", and don't forget the gooners, also doing very well. Saha needs to start now with Tevez, as Tevez cannot play on his own up front. The question is will Fergie stick with this new 4-2-3-1 formation, or revert back to last years winning 4-4-2 when Ronaldo and Rooney come back? I really hope he sticks with this new system, it's working beautifully :smile5:

LFC are on a good run, but tiz a long way till May.

Ya its working beautifully alright haha. Its only the first month ya never know liverpool could run away with it, but with so many teams after buying great players im sure we are going to see a few more upsets in the coming months.

Yup, there have been a few upsets so far, and one can certainly see it continuing. The top sides are not having it all their own way, and I for one would be very happy to see that continue and make it a far more competitive campaign.

All i want to see is Liverpool not winning the league for a period greater than 26 years since their last win..(no Im not a man utd fan).

This world will become such an intolerable place if Liverpool won the league this year.

Surely the world cannot be any more intolerable than the decade plus spent listening to the mancs? Surely? I would be on my best(ish) behaviour if we won the title this year :blah:

Begrudging an "old" Liverpool fan a title win after 17 years waiting is just cruel sir :tongueout:

Had to be an Everton fan :smile5:

Goin good this year mate, nice team Moyes is building. Yakubu is a great record signing for the club, only being behind Henry in the scoring charts the last four years. Now if he could only learn to score post xmas .... :lol3:

Never mind the spuds, if anyone's gonna break the top 4 monopoly, it's certainly most likely the bluenoses* ... :smile5:

* I will not be heard making such civil comments on derby days :smile5:

yeah the yak should do fine for us.
Im still really dissappointed with the whole Fernandes saga as if we had signed him AJ and YAk would have had another avenue for goals.

AJ doesnt thrive from crosses..he needs defense splitting paces to use his pace. but alas things happen.

if we had signed that attacking midfield type player then we would be really challenging for a top 4 spot.

id give up champs league football anyways (we aint ready for it ffor sure) if i was told liverpool wouldnt win the league.
