According to the news the new Train Station should be up and running by mid 2007. This will be within 10 minutes walk from most units within Adamstown.

hi ciaran

after doing a little research i found this article http://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre/news.asp?action=view&news_id=168

there does not seem to be a set date for completion on the Adamstown staion but it did mention that Adamstown and Parkwest will be finished first which is good news because i work in town.

great website by the way

Has anyone any update on how the train station is progressing, likely opening date and if there is any draft timetable available yet?

According to the Oct 2006 progress report at:
http://www.adamstown.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=196&Itemid=2
the station will be complete in June 2007 but that doesn't mean there will be trains stopping there in June 2007

I contacted Iarnród Eireann today and they confirmed that the Station would be open from 10th April 2007. :cheers3:

Juat saw the new train time table on the irishrail.ie
Good news, Adamstown Train Station will be open on 10th April 2007 and all Kildare to Dublin train will stop at Adamstown every 5 to 20mins, only take approx 15mins to Hueston Station :smile5:

See link for new train time table (http://www.iarnrodeireann.ie/your_journey/printed_timetable_pdfs/2007/dublin%20portlaoise%2007.pdf)

Great news, well spotted! Reasonable frequency of trains too. Best Adamstown news I've heard in a long time. It will silence a lot of the doubters.

For example, I recently met an auctioneer, who was keen to tarnish Adamstown. I said that the train station is a huge selling point.

"Oh yeah, the train station station that hasn't got planning permission yet!" sneered the auctioneer.

I can't wait to meet her and tell her the good news!!

:cheergal: :cheers3:

Had a visit to Adamstown station, looks good. However, need to pay 4 Euro per day for parking your car.

Does anyone know bus timings to the station - is Bus service in sync with Train timings? Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the train now on occasion. It's pretty sweet. It takes about 10 min to heuston. It can take 15 if it stops on the way. I just walk up to the train. It's about a 15 min walk. the 25x goes there like twice a day but thats no use to you buster. I saw a guy on like one of those push scooters. He bleedin flys down the road then folds it up and takes it on the train with him.

that train station must have been designed with sunnier climates in mind.

It is one of the most wind swept places offerng no shelter.
On a few occasions lately rain was blown in from the side completely drenching the floors and walls.

Bet the architect probably won a prize too :banging:

yeah, its mad there, not suitable for rainy Ireland at all.

I suppose they meant to discourage anyone hanging around/loitering.

The whole place can be wet inside, its a bit dangerous when all the stairs inside are wet.

Also, the shelters on the platforms are badly designed, they don't afford proper shelter against rain/wind, with the gaps at the top of the shelters!
